A hydrogenated curcuminoid used as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning ingredient.
What it is
Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane is tetrahydrodemethoxycurcumin, the hydrogenated form of demethoxycurcumin, one of the curcuminoids found in turmeric. Unlike curcumin, tetrahydrocurcuminoids are practically colourless. CosIng lists it as an antioxidant, oral care and skin-conditioning ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in a small number of products, usually alongside related tetrahydrocurcuminoids.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not reveal whether the material was made from turmeric extract or synthetically.
