An oxidative hair dye ingredient.
What it is
Toluene-2,5-diamine sulfate is the sulfate salt of toluene-2,5-diamine (2-methyl-p-phenylenediamine). In oxidative hair colours it reacts with an oxidising agent and couplers to form the colour inside the hair. CosIng lists its function as hair dyeing.
Where it is used
Found in permanent and some semi-permanent oxidative hair colours.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It is listed in Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009; see the EU regulation section for the applicable limits. The label does not show the concentration actually used.
