What it is
Vitis vinifera seed extract is an extract of the seeds of the grapevine, Vitis vinifera, of the grape family (Vitaceae). CosIng lists it as an anti-seborrhoeic, antimicrobial, antioxidant, oral care, skin-protecting and UV-absorbing ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in creams, serums, body care products, toothpastes and hair products.
Limits of interpretation

The INCI name does not reveal the extraction method or what the extract contains. It is not one of the UV filters listed in Annex VI.

- Oral care
- Providing cosmetic effects to the oral cavity, e.g. cleansing, deodorising, protecting.
- Skin protecting
- Helping to avoid harmful effects to the skin from external factors.
- UV absorber
- Protecting the cosmetic product from the effects of UV-light.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
