Balea is the own brand of the German drugstore chain dm-drogerie markt and was launched in 1995. According to dm, the range has grown to more than 800 products covering hair, face and body care. As with most retailer brands, the companies that manufacture individual Balea products are not publicly named.

dm says Balea has grown to more than 800 products; 594 of them are in INCIMondo, led by hair care, then hand creams, shower gels, face care and sun care. Water aside, the ingredients met most often are PARFUM, GLYCERIN, CITRIC ACID, PHENOXYETHANOL and TOCOPHEROL.
Fragrance is present in 466 formulas (78%), while silicones are rare at 14 (2%) and parabens appear in a single product (<1%). Denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) is listed in 81 formulas (14%).
