About Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works is an American retail chain founded in 1990 in New Albany, Ohio, and headquartered in Columbus. It began as the beauty line of the fashion retailer Express and later belonged to the L Brands group; today it is run by the listed company Bath & Body Works, Inc., with around 1,700 stores. Its range is built around fragrance: body lotions and creams, hand soaps and sanitisers, and candles, sold in seasonal scent collections such as Champagne Toast or Warm Amber & Oak.

Fragrance, then everything else

As you would expect from a range sold in seasonal scent collections, all 29 Bath & Body Works products we list declare fragrance (100%). PARFUM (28) and DISODIUM EDTA (25) are the most frequent ingredients after water, followed by LINALOOL (23) and ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE (22). Soaps and body lotions are the two main categories.

Silicones appear in 12 formulas (41%), parabens in 3 (10%) and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) in 2 (7%).

Scent by scent

Fragrance substances such as LINALOOL and LIMONENE have to be named separately once they exceed a set level, and which ones appear depends on the scent – Champagne Toast and Warm Amber & Oak will not list the same ones. If you avoid a particular substance, check each scent individually, and look for -PARABEN names in the few products that contain them.
