About Borotalco

Borotalco originated in 1878 in Florence, at a pharmacy on Via Tornabuoni run by Henry Roberts, where a soft talc powder called boro-talcum was created. The brand's development was continued by the Manetti & Roberts laboratories. Today Borotalco is best known for deodorants, and since the 1990s it has also offered a wider hygiene and body care line.

Borotalco's scent signature

Deodorants lead Borotalco's 12 products in INCIMondo, followed by shower gels and bar soaps. Four of the five most frequent ingredients after water are named fragrance components – LIMONENE, COUMARIN, LINALOOL and GERANIOL – alongside PARFUM.

All 12 formulas contain fragrance ingredients. Silicones appear in 3 and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) in 1, while none contains parabens.

Reading Borotalco labels

COUMARIN, LIMONENE and the other named components are declared separately because EU rules require it above 0.001% in leave-on products such as deodorants and 0.01% in rinse-off products such as shower gels. That makes it easy to check for a specific one.
