About Cien
Cien is the own cosmetics brand of the discount retailer Lidl, offering budget care products in simple packaging. The first Cien products appeared in 1982. In 2018 Lidl added the vegan line Cien Food for Skin. Products are made by a number of contract manufacturers, several of them based in Germany and Poland.
Cien at a glance
Shower gels make up the largest group among the 86 Cien products in INCIMondo, ahead of hair care, face care, sun care and deodorants. PARFUM, GLYCERIN, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE and SODIUM CHLORIDE are the top five ingredients after water – a line-up that fits a range led by shower gels.
72 formulas (84%) list fragrance ingredients. Silicones are found in 10 (12%), denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) in 5 (6%) and parabens in 4 (5%).
Buying Cien
Lidl sources Cien from a number of contract manufacturers, several of them in Germany and Poland, so two Cien products may not share a formula even when they look alike. The ingredient list on the pack you buy is the reliable reference.
