About Dermalogica
Dermalogica is a professional skin care brand founded in Los Angeles in 1986 by the husband-and-wife team Jane and Raymond Wurwand. Unilever agreed to acquire the company in June 2015, at a time when it was sold in some 80 countries, with the founders keeping an interest. The products in our database include Precleanse Balm, Special Cleansing Gel (also in a travel size), a resurfacing cleanser, Active Moist and an SPF 50 moisturiser.
Cleansing first
Our 6 Dermalogica entries carry no category tags, but the names point to a cleansing-heavy selection. SODIUM HYDROXIDE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, LIMONENE and LINALOOL appear in 4 products each, followed by GLYCERIN and COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE in 3.
No formula declares fragrance (PARFUM) and none contains parabens or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.); silicones are listed in 3 (50%).
Scent without PARFUM
LIMONENE and LINALOOL are fragrance substances that must be named on the label above set levels – here they appear although PARFUM does not, which typically points to essential oils or plant extracts that contain them. Travel sizes may share a formula with the full size, but compare the two lists before assuming so.
