About Hada Labo Tokyo
Hada Labo – Japanese for 'Skin Lab' – is a skin care brand developed by Rohto Pharmaceutical and launched in Japan in 2004. Hada Labo Tokyo is a separate version made by Rohto's subsidiary Mentholatum, with its own branding, products and formulations; it entered US mass retail in 2015. The Japanese line is built around ranges such as Gokujyun and Shirojyun.
Three hyaluronic forms
Our 4 Hada Labo Tokyo entries are a purifying face wash gel, an intensive moisturising hydro cream, the Super Moisturizer Sun Lotion SPF50 and a soothing Hyalu Protect after-sun balm, with Turkish and Polish labels. GLYCERIN, SODIUM ACETYLATED HYALURONATE, DISODIUM EDTA and AQUA appear in all 4; SODIUM HYALURONATE, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PROPANEDIOL, PHENOXYETHANOL and CAPRYLHYDROXAMIC ACID in 3.
None of the 4 declares fragrance, parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Tokyo is not the Japanese line
Hada Labo Tokyo products are formulated for Western markets and are not the same as Japanese Hada Labo bottles, so ingredient lists from one cannot be assumed for the other. The three hyaluronic names – SODIUM HYALURONATE, SODIUM ACETYLATED HYALURONATE and HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID – are distinct ingredients and are listed separately.
