About ICA
ICA is a Swedish grocery retail group. Its roots go back to 1917, when Hakon Swenson started the wholesaler Hakonbolaget in Västerås, and ICA itself was formed in 1938 to coordinate four Swedish purchasing centres. Each store is owned and run by an independent retailer who cooperates on sourcing and logistics. Our entries are ICA-label products with Swedish names: a baby zinc ointment (Zinksalva), an unscented shower soap, an ICA Basic fluoride mint toothpaste and a White Pearl body lotion for dry skin.
Four aisles, little overlap
The 4 ICA products include a shower product and a body cream; AQUA is the only ingredient in all 4. SODIUM BENZOATE, GLYCERIN and ALLANTOIN appear in 2 each, and the rest – from SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE and COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE to PANTHENOL and GLYCERYL STEARATE CITRATE – in 1 only.
Parabens and fragrance are each declared in 1 product (25%); none contains silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
'Oparfymerad' means no PARFUM
The Swedish word oparfymerad on the shower soap means unscented, and the list should confirm it with no PARFUM. With only one product listing parabens, check the specific item rather than the brand if you track preservatives – a zinc ointment, a toothpaste and a lotion are formulated very differently.
