About Leader Price

Leader Price is a French discount store chain whose first shop opened in Paris in 1989, founded by Jean Baud and Albert Baussan. Groupe Casino took control in 1997, and in 2020 Casino sold 545 Leader Price stores in France to Aldi France, which converted most of them. The chain still operates supermarkets in Réunion and Madagascar. Products under the Leader Price name in our database are own-label toiletries such as shower gels, soaps, body milks, toothpastes and make-up removers.

Leader Price on the label

Shower gels, soaps and body lotions lead the 21 Leader Price products we list. The soap side of the range shows in the ingredient ranking: after water, PARFUM (16) and GLYCERIN (15) are followed by SODIUM CHLORIDE (11) and SODIUM HYDROXIDE (11).

Scent features in 16 formulas (76%). Parabens and silicones each appear in 2 (10%), and none of the products contains denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).

Soap chemistry and parabens

SODIUM HYDROXIDE in a soap's list usually means the oils were turned into soap with it – the same chemistry as entries like SODIUM OLIVATE or SODIUM COCOATE. The two paraben-containing items carry names ending in -PARABEN. Own-label products like these are often made by contract manufacturers that can change, so the formula on your pack is what counts.
