About Old Spice

Old Spice was introduced in 1937 by the Shulton Company, founded that year by William Lightfoot Schultz; a women's line came first, followed by the men's products the brand is known for. American Cyanamid acquired Shulton in 1970, and Procter & Gamble bought the Old Spice brand in June 1990. Today the range covers deodorants and antiperspirants, body sprays, body washes, aftershaves, colognes and hair products, with scents such as Original, Swagger, Wolfthorn and Whitewater.

Old Spice and its scents

The 21 Old Spice deodorants and shower gels we list are built around scent: all of them declare fragrance (100%), and the top four ingredients after water are PARFUM (21), LINALOOL (19), LIMONENE (16) and HEXYL CINNAMAL (12).

Denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) appears in 4 formulas (19%) and silicones in 2 (10%). None contains parabens.

Original, Swagger, Wolfthorn, Whitewater

LINALOOL, LIMONENE and HEXYL CINNAMAL are fragrance substances that must be named separately once they pass a set level, and their mix shifts from one scent to the next. If you avoid one of them, compare the lists scent by scent. In sprays, ALCOHOL DENAT. near the top of the list indicates a main component.
