About Orkla Home & Personal Care

Orkla Home & Personal Care is a Nordic consumer goods company wholly owned by the Norwegian group Orkla ASA since 1986, with roots in the Lilleborg factory on Oslo's Aker River dating back to 1833. It operates in Norway, Sweden and Finland and runs its own value chain from product development to production; its brands include Define, Sunsilk, Lano and Zalo. In 2025 it had 393 employees and revenues of NOK 2.8 billion.

Define and Sunsilk on the shelf

Our 4 entries are the Define Dry Shampoo Original (200 ml), Define Shampoo Strength&Volume and Moroccan Argan Oil (250 ml each) and a Sunsilk Bright Blossom balsam; 2 are filed as shampoos. PARFUM appears in all 4; SODIUM BENZOATE, CITRIC ACID and AQUA in 3; SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, GLYCERIN, SODIUM CHLORIDE, MONOSODIUM CITRATE and GUAR HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE in 2.

All 4 declare fragrance (100%) and 1 contains denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT., 25%). None contains parabens or silicones.

Dry shampoo and balsam

A dry shampoo is a powder-and-propellant product with little in common with a liquid shampoo, so expect starches and gases instead of SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE. 'Balsam' is the Scandinavian word for conditioner, which explains the cationic GUAR HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE in that product.
