About Pipette
Pipette is a personal care brand for babies and parents launched in September 2019 and incubated by the biotech company Amyris, built around squalane derived from sugarcane. After Amyris filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, Pipette was sold at auction to HRB Brands (High Ridge Brands) for $1.75 million. It is sold through retailers including Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Credo and Amazon.
Squalane as the common thread
Our 4 entries are the Baby Shampoo + Wash (recorded twice), a Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 and a Mineral Sunscreen Stick SPF 50. SQUALANE is the only ingredient in all 4; GLYCERIN, COCO-GLUCOSIDE and SODIUM GLUCONATE follow in 3, and GLYCOLIPIDS, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, SODIUM LAUROYL LACTYLATE, MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE and SODIUM BENZOATE in 2.
None of the 4 declares fragrance, parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Squalane, not squalene
SQUALANE (with an 'a') is the stable, hydrogenated form; SQUALENE is a different ingredient, so read the spelling. For the two sunscreens, the mineral filter is printed as an active ingredient on the US Drug Facts panel and is not part of the inactive list shown here.
