About Respire
Respire is a French natural cosmetics brand founded by Justine Hutteau, who launched it with a crowdfunding campaign that gathered 21,000 pre-orders in a month. Its first products were vegan natural deodorants made in France, developed with a doctor of pharmacy, and by 2019 they were sold at Monoprix and Sephora. Our 5 entries are deodorant sticks and roll-ons in cotton flower, orange blossom and mint-eucalyptus, including an eco-refill.
A deodorant formula without aluminium salts
Roll-on and stick deodorants account for the 5 Respire products. TRIETHYL CITRATE, PARFUM and TOCOPHEROL appear in all 5, followed by STEARYL ALCOHOL, HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, MAGNESIUM OXIDE and COCO-CAPRYLATE/CAPRATE in 3.
All 5 declare fragrance (100%); none contains parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Odour control on the label
In deodorants without aluminium salts, look for ingredients like TRIETHYL CITRATE and MAGNESIUM OXIDE, which target odour rather than sweat – these products are deodorants, not antiperspirants. Sticks contain waxes such as HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL; roll-ons are more fluid, so compare like formats.
