About Rituals
Rituals is a Dutch home and body cosmetics company founded in Amsterdam in 2000 by Raymond Cloosterman, with its headquarters on the city's Keizersgracht. Its range spans body care, cosmetics, home fragrance and, more recently, hair care. The company operates more than 1,000 stores, along with thousands of shop-in-shops, in over 30 countries.
Scent first
For a company that also sells home fragrance, it fits that scent shapes the ingredient lists: LINALOOL is the most frequent ingredient after water among Rituals' 10 products in INCIMondo, ahead of PARFUM, LIMONENE, CITRONELLOL and CITRIC ACID. The products are hand creams, body care, face care and hair care.
Fragrance ingredients are in all 10 formulas and silicones in 3. Parabens and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) do not appear.
Reading Rituals labels
Because every formula is scented, the named fragrance components – LINALOOL, LIMONENE, CITRONELLOL and others – are what to compare between products if you avoid one of them. Their presence and order can differ from one product to the next, even within the same range.
