About Tarte
Tarte is an American cosmetics company founded in New York in 1999 by Maureen Kelly, who started it while studying for a PhD in psychology at Columbia University; its first product was a cheek stain. Japan's Kosé Corporation bought a majority stake in March 2014 for $135 million. Our entries are the Tartelette Toasted palette, Shape Tape Ultra Creamy concealer, and the Sugar Rush Squeezy Clean Face Wash in full and mini size.
A cactus extract and a shared base
Only the concealer carries a category tag among our 4 Tarte products. PHENOXYETHANOL and CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE appear in all 4; GLYCERIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, DISODIUM EDTA, AQUA and OPUNTIA FICUS-INDICA STEM EXTRACT (prickly pear) in 3.
Fragrance (PARFUM) and silicones are each listed in 1 (25%); none contains parabens or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Allergens with little PARFUM
LIMONENE and LINALOOL appear in three products although PARFUM is declared in only one – a sign that they come from plant extracts or oils rather than an added fragrance. The full-size and mini Sugar Rush face wash should share a formula; compare the two lists to confirm.
