About theBalm
theBalm is a make-up brand from San Francisco founded in 2004 by Marissa Shipman, who started out mixing lip balms in her kitchen. It is known for practical, multi-use products and opened its first flagship store on Valencia Street in 2014. The 5 entries in our database, with Turkish product names, are four Lip Oil shades – Berry Fast, Take The High Rose, Little Red Corvette and Too Slow, Mauve Over – and the Big Fan mascara.
Lip oils with a water phase
Lip oils (4) and a volumising mascara make up the 5 theBalm products. CAPRYLYL GLYCOL appears in all 5, and GLYCERIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, SODIUM HYALURONATE and the red colourant CI 17200 in 4 each.
None of the 5 declares fragrance, parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Shade names and colourants
The four lip oil shades share most of their list; the differences sit in the colourants, so check the CI numbers on the shade you choose. Ingredients such as ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE and GLYCERIN show that these 'oils' also contain water-based ingredients.
