A sugar-based surfactant used as an emulsifier and cleansing agent.
What it is
C12-20 alkyl glucoside is obtained by condensing fatty alcohols with 12 to 20 carbon atoms with glucose. CosIng lists it as an emulsifying and cleansing surfactant.
Where it is used
Used in creams, lotions and other emulsions, often together with fatty alcohols, and in some cleansing products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not reveal whether the fatty alcohols are of plant or synthetic origin.
