A monoterpene alcohol of the geraniol and nerol type, used as a perfuming ingredient.
What it is
Citrol is 3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-1-ol without a specified double-bond geometry, the structure shared by geraniol and nerol, two monoterpene alcohols found in many essential oils. CosIng lists it as a perfuming ingredient.
Where it is used
Appears on the ingredient lists of a small number of products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not show the ratio of the geraniol and nerol forms. It should not be confused with citral, the corresponding aldehyde.
