A cinnamate UV filter regulated in Annex VI.
What it is
Isoamyl p-methoxycinnamate, also known as amiloxate, is the ester of isoamyl alcohol and p-methoxycinnamic acid. CosIng lists it as a light stabiliser, UV absorber and UV filter. In the EU it is listed in Annex VI (UV filters).
Where it is used
Found in sunscreens, day creams and other products with UV filters.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
See the EU regulation section for the applicable limits. The label does not show the concentration, and the protection of a product depends on the whole formula.
