INCI name

LINALYL ACETATE

Linalyl acetate

Fragrancereviewed

A fragrance substance with a fresh, lavender-like scent.

What it is

Linalyl acetate is an ester found in lavender, bergamot and clary sage oils and is also made synthetically. Like linalool, it can form sensitising oxidation products when exposed to air, and it is among the substances covered by the extended EU fragrance allergen labelling rules.

Where it is used

Found in perfumes, products with lavender or bergamot oil and other scented products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

Its presence on the label means it exceeds the labelling threshold; it does not mean the product will cause a reaction.

Functions
