A high-molecular polyethylene glycol used as a binder and thickener.

What it is

PEG-2M is a polymer of ethylene oxide (polyethylene glycol) with an average of about 2,000 ethylene oxide units. CosIng lists it as a binding, emulsion-stabilising and viscosity-controlling ingredient. It is a synthetic ingredient.

Where it is used

Found in creams, gels, cleansing products, shaving products and hair care products.

Limits of interpretation

The letter M stands for thousand; the number refers to the average chain length, so the raw material is a mixture of chains of different lengths.
