Our review

A very cheap, fragrance-free clear gel for grooming brows and separating lashes, based on water, glycerin and an acrylate film former. Users like the price and the light hold on fine brows; many find it too wet and too weak for thick, unruly hairs.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo on essence.eu shows a clear tube with a transparent cap; the blue inner stem of the spoolie wand is visible through the gel, and “lash & brow gel mascara” is printed vertically in blue. dm lists the transparent version at 9 ml. It is a clear gel that can be used on brows to set the hairs or on lashes as a light, colourless coat.

Ingredient analysis

The list is only nine ingredients long. Water is the base, glycerin and propylene glycol keep the gel moist, and panthenol (provitamin B5) is a conditioning agent. Carbomer, neutralised with sodium hydroxide, forms the clear gel, while acrylates copolymer is the film former that gives the hold once it dries.

Preservation is handled by phenoxyethanol with ethylhexylglycerin as a booster. There is no fragrance, no colourant and no wax, which explains the transparent, light finish.

What to watch out for

No labelled fragrance allergens. Phenoxyethanol is a permitted preservative with an EU concentration limit; as with any eye product, contact lens wearers and people with reactive eyes should avoid getting the gel into the eye. A gel used on lashes and brows can pick up bacteria over time, so replacing it regularly is sensible.

What users say

On Ulta Beauty the gel averages 3.8/5 from 1,142 reviews (checked 31 Oct 2026; US listing, where the formula may differ slightly). Fans like that it is inexpensive and keeps fine brow hairs neatly in place all day.

The most common complaints concern the texture: the spoolie picks up too much product, the gel feels watery and slow to dry, and the hold fades quickly on thick brows. A few reviewers mention a soft brush that makes shaping harder and tubes that leak.

Who it may suit

People with fine or sparse brows who want a subtle, budget brow set or a clear lash coat. Anyone with coarse, unruly brows will probably prefer a stronger brow gel or wax.
