Over Colgate
Colgate is het mondverzorgingsmerk van het Amerikaanse bedrijf Colgate-Palmolive, dat zijn oorsprong terugvoert op 1806, toen William Colgate in New York een bedrijf in zetmeel, zeep en kaarsen begon. Het bedrijf introduceerde in 1873 een aromatische tandpasta die in potten werd verkocht. Tegenwoordig is de groep ook eigenaar van Palmolive, Sanex en elmex.
In een tube van Colgate
INCIMondo bevat 122 Colgate-producten, in wezen tandpasta's en mondwaters. Hun terugkerende ingrediënten (water niet meegerekend) lezen als een tandpastarecept: SODIUM SACCHARIN voor de zoetheid, HYDRATED SILICA als mild schuurmiddel en verdikker, daarna CELLULOSE GUM, SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE en AROMA.
Klassieke cosmetische toevoegingen ontbreken vrijwel. Slechts 3 van de 122 formules (2%) bevatten geuringrediënten, en geen enkele vermeldt parabenen, siliconen of gedenatureerde alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Tandpasta-etiketten lezen
Op een tube van Colgate is AROMA de smaakstof, geen parfum. De fluorideverbinding wordt in de ingrediëntenlijst genoemd, en op veel verpakkingen staat ook het fluoridegehalte in ppm, wat varianten gemakkelijk vergelijkbaar maakt.
