About Clinique

Clinique Laboratories is an American skin care and cosmetics brand founded in 1968 at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York by Evelyn Lauder, Carol Phillips and the dermatologist Norman Orentreich. A subsidiary of the Estée Lauder Companies with headquarters in New York City, it launched as an allergy-tested, dermatologist-driven skin care line and now sells skin care, make-up, toiletries and fragrances, usually through department stores.

Cleansers without fragrance

The 9 Clinique products we list are almost all cleansers: All About Clean liquid facial soap and foaming cleanser, Take The Day Off cleansing oil and several Clinique For Men face washes and scrubs. PHENOXYETHANOL (7) is the most frequent ingredient, ahead of BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, DISODIUM EDTA, HEXYLENE GLYCOL and AQUA (6 each).

None of the 9 declares fragrance. Silicones appear in 4 (44%); parabens and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) are absent.

Rinse-off cleansers

A cleansing oil such as Take The Day Off is built on oils and emulsifiers rather than water, so its list starts differently from a foaming wash. To confirm a product is unscented, check that neither PARFUM nor any named fragrance substance such as LIMONENE or LINALOOL appears.
