Packaging and what the product is

The photo on clinique.com shows a black squeeze tube on a dark grey cap, printed in white “CLINIQUE FOR MEN” and “face wash / nettoyant visage”. Retailers sell it in 200 ml. It is a daily foaming cleanser, the first step of the brand's men's routine.

Ingredient analysis

Sodium laureth sulfate is the main surfactant, softened by cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, lauramidopropyl betaine, sodium cocoyl sarcosinate and TEA-cocoyl glutamate; sodium chloride thickens. Aloe leaf juice, sodium hyaluronate, sucrose, butylene glycol, chamomile extract and tocopheryl acetate are present in small amounts.

Polyquaternium-7 and a silicone quat soften the after-feel. Preservation uses phenoxyethanol and sodium benzoate, with caprylyl glycol and hexylene glycol; EDTA and disodium EDTA are chelators. There is no fragrance.

What to watch out for

No fragrance and no declared allergens. As a sulphate cleanser it may feel drying on very dry or freshly shaved, irritated skin, and the foam can sting the eyes. People sensitive to chamomile (a daisy-family plant) should check the list, although the extract is low down.

On LOOKFANTASTIC it averages 4.7/5 from 45 reviews, on Marks & Spencer 4.6/5 from 20 reviews, and Clinique's US page shows 4.5/5 from 69 ratings (all checked 31 Oct 2026). Many reviews come from partners and relatives: the men reportedly like that it does not dry or break out their skin, foams well even in hard water and lasts a long time.

One unhappy buyer had used the discontinued Clinique soap bar for decades and disliked the oily after-feel of this wash. Otherwise, criticism is mostly about the price.

Who it may suit

Men – or anyone – with normal to combination skin wanting a simple, fragrance-free foaming wash. Those with very dry skin may prefer a non-foaming cleanser; Clinique also sells an oil-control version for oilier skin.
