About Isle of Paradise
Isle of Paradise is a self-tanning brand launched in 2018 by the professional tanner Jules Von Hep, with a stated mission of making beauty more inclusive. It belongs to Future Beauty Labs, the Glasgow- and New York-based beauty company founded by Marc Elrick that also owns Tan-Luxe and Byoma. Von Hep later stepped back from the brand, which expanded from tanning into body care in 2024.
Water, mousse and drops
Our 4 Isle of Paradise entries come from the manufacturer's own information: Self-Tanning Water, Self-Tanning Mousse, Self Tanning Drops 2.0 and the Glow Clear mousse. GLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL and the antioxidant SODIUM METABISULFITE appear in all 4; ASCORBIC ACID, PARFUM, COCOS NUCIFERA OIL, PERSEA GRATISSIMA OIL and the tanning agents DIHYDROXYACETONE and ERYTHRULOSE follow in 3 each.
Fragrance is declared in 3 formulas (75%). None contains parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Two tanning agents, one shade name
Self-tanners usually pair DIHYDROXYACETONE with ERYTHRULOSE, which develops more slowly; their position in the list hints at how concentrated the colour base is. All our entries are labelled 'Medium', so a Light or Dark version of the same product may list the tanning agents higher or lower – check the shade you buy.
