About Lynx

Lynx is the name under which Unilever sells its Axe men's grooming brand in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and a few other markets, because of trademark issues with the Axe name there. The brand was launched in France as Axe in 1983 and arrived in the UK as Lynx in 1985. The range consists of body sprays, antiperspirants and deodorants and shower gels, sold in scent lines such as Africa, Apollo and Excite.

Aerosols at the top

The 28 Lynx deodorants and shower gels we list are dominated by spray cans: BUTANE, PROPANE and ISOBUTANE each appear in 24 products, followed by ZINC NEODECANOATE (19). Every formula declares fragrance (28 of 28, 100%).

Denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) is listed in 5 products (18%) – far fewer, proportionally, than under the Axe name – and silicones in 3 (11%). There are no parabens.

Lynx versus Axe labels

Lynx and Axe are the same brand under different names, but the entries we hold differ, so compare the specific can or bottle rather than the brand. A spray lists its propellant gases; in a shower gel from the same scent line (Africa, Apollo, Excite) you will find an entirely different base.
