About Marque Repère

Marque Repère is the private label of the French retail group E.Leclerc, covering food and non-food categories. The brand celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, and E.Leclerc reported more than 3.4 billion units sold across the brand in 2021. In our database it appears with shower gels, soaps, deodorants, shaving products and toothpastes.

Marque Repère: what the labels show

From E.Leclerc's wide-ranging private label, INCIMondo records 42 personal care products: shower gels, bar soaps, deodorants, toothpastes and shaving products. PARFUM heads the ingredient list (water aside), and the named fragrance components LIMONENE and LINALOOL also make the top five, alongside GLYCERIN and CITRIC ACID.

Fragrance ingredients are in 38 formulas (90%). Denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) appears in 16 (38%), a sizeable share for a range that includes deodorants, and silicones in 6 (14%). No formula contains parabens.

Shopping Marque Repère

Private-label products are typically made by different contract manufacturers, so a Marque Repère shower gel and deodorant need not share much beyond the logo. Where ALCOHOL DENAT. appears, it is denatured ethanol used for a quick-drying feel – not to be confused with fatty alcohols such as CETEARYL ALCOHOL.
