About Mennen
Mennen was founded in 1878 by Gerhard Heinrich Mennen, a German immigrant in Newark, New Jersey; the company later moved to Morristown and was acquired by Colgate-Palmolive in 1992, with brands such as Speed Stick and Skin Bracer. In France, however, the Mennen name belongs to L'Oréal, which uses it for a men's grooming line. Our 4 entries carry French labels – Bois Brut, Musk, Marine Anti-traces and a Covermax 72H stick.
Deodorant sticks, heavily scented
Deodorants and an antiperspirant make up the 4 Mennen products we list. LIMONENE and LINALOOL appear in all 4; CITRAL, COUMARIN, SODIUM STEARATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, PARFUM and AQUA in 3; and BEHENETH-10, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL, EUGENOL and STEARYL ALCOHOL in 2.
All 4 declare fragrance (100%) and 1 lists silicones (25%); none contains parabens or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Soap-gel stick or antiperspirant
SODIUM STEARATE with PROPYLENE GLYCOL is the classic base of a transparent or gel deodorant stick, while an antiperspirant stick relies on aluminium salts and often waxes or silicones – check which type you are buying, as a 72H stick such as Covermax may be formulated differently. The long list of named allergens reflects how prominent the fragrance is in this category.
