About Native

Native is an American personal care brand founded by Moiz Ali in San Francisco. It started as a deodorant sold online and marketed on its choice of ingredients, and was acquired by Procter & Gamble in November 2017, roughly two and a half years after launch. The range has since widened beyond deodorant to body wash, hair care and mineral sunscreen, often sold in paired scents such as Ocean & Timber.

Native beyond deodorant

Deodorants still lead the 22 Native products we list, but shower gels and sunscreens now follow. The ingredient ranking is fairly even at the top: after water, SODIUM BENZOATE (13) and CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE (13) appear most often, then CITRIC ACID (12) and GLYCERIN (11).

Fragrance is declared in 19 formulas (86%). No product contains parabens or silicones, and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) appears in 1 (5%).

Paired scents and ingredient order

Native sells many products in paired scents such as Ocean & Timber, so two items from the same scent can still be quite different formulas. Ingredients are listed in descending order down to 1%; beyond that the order is free, which limits what the tail of a list can tell you.
