About Original Source

Original Source is a British shower and bath brand launched in 1995 and acquired in 2002 by PZ Cussons, the consumer goods company headquartered in Manchester. The brand is known for shower gels named after their scent combinations, and has also offered shampoos and conditioners.

One base, many scents

Seven of the 9 Original Source products we list are classed as shower gels, with names such as Tingly Mint & Tea Tree, Cherry & Almond Milk and Tropical Coconut & Shea Butter. The base is strikingly uniform: SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, LACTIC ACID, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, AQUA, SODIUM BENZOATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE and TETRASODIUM GLUTAMATE DIACETATE all appear in all 9.

Fragrance is declared in 7 formulas (78%), and PARFUM itself also counts 7. No product contains parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).

Where the variants differ

Since the cleansing base repeats across the range, the differences between two Original Source gels sit further down the list: the fruit or plant named on the front, colourants (CI numbers) and the fragrance substances such as LIMONENE that are named individually.
