About Sephora
Sephora is a beauty retailer founded in Limoges, France, in 1969 by Dominique Mandonnaud; LVMH acquired it in 1997 and its headquarters are in Neuilly-sur-Seine. It operates around 2,700 stores in 34 countries and sells its own private label, Sephora Collection, covering make-up, skincare and beauty tools. Our entries, with French names, include anti-blemish patches, a Fleur de Coton cream hand wash and a lacquer nail polish in shade L30 Not That Shy.
A private-label sampler
Our 4 Sephora entries span a nail polish, a hand cream and wash products. CITRIC ACID appears in 3; GLYCERIN, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, LAURYL GLUCOSIDE, STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, PHENOXYETHANOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, SODIUM BENZOATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, LINALOOL, POLYSORBATE 20 and CI 19140 in 2.
Only 1 product (25%) declares fragrance; none contains parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Retailer label, many makers
A retailer's own label covers very different product types, often from different manufacturers, so the brand name says little about a shared formula – compare each item with its category. Nail polish lists in particular follow their own conventions, with film formers and pigments rather than the water-based ingredients of the wash products.
