About Tom's of Maine
Tom's of Maine was founded in 1970 by Tom and Kate Chappell and is based in Kennebunk, Maine. In 2006 Colgate-Palmolive bought an 84% controlling stake for $100 million, with the Chappells keeping the rest. The company describes its personal care products as made without artificial flavours, fragrances, colours, sweeteners or preservatives. All 5 entries in our database are toothpastes, including Whole Care Anticavity, Simply White, Whiten+ Coconut Oil, a toddler toothpaste and a fluoride-free fresh mint.
Toothpaste after toothpaste
Toothpastes account for all 5 Tom's of Maine products. GLYCERIN, HYDRATED SILICA and XYLITOL appear in all 5, CARRAGEENAN and BENZYL ALCOHOL in 4, and SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE and SODIUM BICARBONATE (baking soda) in 3.
None declares fragrance, parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Natural flavour on the label
Flavour in these toothpastes appears as AROMA or as named oils such as peppermint, not as PARFUM. Fluoride and fluoride-free versions sit side by side in the range – look for SODIUM FLUORIDE or SODIUM MONOFLUOROPHOSPHATE, or its absence, and for the toddler paste follow the age guidance on the pack.
