About Unilever

Unilever is a consumer goods group headquartered in London. It was created on 2 September 1929 through the merger of the Dutch margarine producer Margarine Unie and the British soap maker Lever Brothers. Its personal care portfolio includes Dove, Axe (Lynx in the UK and Australia), Rexona, Vaseline, Signal and TRESemmé, among others. The ice cream business was separated from the group at the end of 2025. Products in our database filed directly under the Unilever name come from several of these brands.

628 formulas under one group name

The 628 products filed directly under Unilever are a cross-section of several of the group's brands rather than one line, which is why toothpastes, deodorants and shower gels lead the count side by side.

Scent runs through most of them: 433 formulas (69%) declare fragrance, and after water PARFUM (367), LIMONENE (356), GLYCERIN (353) and LINALOOL (314) are the most frequent entries. Silicones appear in 183 products (29%), parabens in 50 (8%) and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) in 38 (6%).

Comparing Unilever products

Because this entry mixes several brands, compare like with like – a toothpaste with other toothpastes, a deodorant with other deodorants – instead of reading the group totals as the profile of a single product. LIMONENE and LINALOOL are fragrance substances that labels name separately once they pass a set level, which is why they show up almost as often as PARFUM itself; HEXYL CINNAMAL is another name to look for.
