Our review

An exfoliating body lotion that combines salicylic acid with ammonium lactate and ceramides. Users mostly report smoother skin and softer keratosis-pilaris bumps; results are gradual rather than dramatic.

Packaging and what the product is

The quoted photo shows the US bottle. This is the American version of the product, where salicylic acid is listed first as the active ingredient under US labelling rules; European CeraVe exfoliating products have their own formulas.

Ingredient analysis

Two exfoliating systems work together: salicylic acid (a BHA) and ammonium lactate, the ammonium salt of lactic acid. Glycerin, mineral oil, fatty alcohols, corn oil and dimethicone make it a moisturising lotion rather than a thin toner. The ceramides NP, AP and EOP, cholesterol, phytosphingosine and hydrolysed hyaluronic acid support the barrier. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is also included. It is preserved with methylparaben and propylparaben and contains no fragrance.

What to watch out for

Salicylic acid is regulated in the EU with limits and warnings that depend on the product type, including a warning against use for children under three – see the EU regulation section on its ingredient page. Propylparaben must not be used in leave-on products for the nappy area of children under three. Acids can sting on broken or freshly shaved skin, and exfoliated skin may be more sensitive to the sun.

What users say

On Female Daily it averaged 4.2 from 21 reviews, with 95% recommending it (checked 30 October 2026). Users describe smoother skin and fewer rough bumps, and some saw keratosis pilaris on the arms soften or disappear. Critics mention a mild burning feeling on the face, a texture that is too heavy for some and not moisturising enough for very dry skin, and limited effect on blackheads or acne marks.

Who it may suit

Adults with rough, bumpy skin on the arms, thighs or back, including keratosis pilaris, who want a gentle daily exfoliating moisturiser.
