Packaging and what the product is

The manufacturer’s photo shows a white tube with a green cap from the Iwostin Purritin line, labelled “lekki krem sebum control” for oily, shiny and acne-prone skin. Shop links on the product page point to 40 ml and 60 ml versions. A tube with a small opening suits a light gel-cream.

Ingredient analysis

With only 13 ingredients, this is one of the shortest formulas in its category. Water, glycerin and propylene glycol provide basic hydration; Oryza Sativa (rice) Starch absorbs excess sebum and gives a matte look; dimethicone adds slip without oiliness. Carbomer and an acrylates crosspolymer make a light gel texture, neutralised with sodium hydroxide; potassium cetyl phosphate is the emulsifier.

Piroctone Olamine is best known from anti-dandruff shampoos, where it acts against the yeast Malassezia; in leave-on products it is used as a preservative and active ingredient within EU limits (see the EU regulation section). Allantoin adds a soothing touch.

What to watch out for

No fragrance, no essential oils and no listed allergens. Preservation is phenoxyethanol plus piroctone olamine. The cream does not contain exfoliating acids or niacinamide, so it controls shine rather than treating blemishes; acne that is persistent or painful should be discussed with a dermatologist.

Oily and combination skin that wants a light, matte, fragrance-free moisturiser – also as a base under make-up. Dry skin will likely need something richer.
