About Monsavon

Monsavon is a French personal care brand launched by L'Oréal in 1925; the blue packaging of its soap helped make the brand a success. The brand later changed hands several times: Procter & Gamble bought it in 1961, and it passed to the Sara Lee group in 1998. Today the range consists mainly of bar soaps, shower gels and creams (including organic variants) and deodorants.

Monsavon: scent first

Fragrance is the common thread of the 50 Monsavon products we list – shower gels, deodorants and soaps, all 50 (100%) with PARFUM. After water, PARFUM (50) and LINALOOL (37) lead the ranking, ahead of CITRIC ACID (28) and GLYCERIN (27).

Silicones appear in 17 formulas (34%); there are no parabens and no denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).

Named fragrance components

Besides PARFUM, labels must name certain fragrance substances individually once they exceed a set level; in Monsavon products these include LINALOOL, COUMARIN and LIMONENE. If you avoid one of them, check the end of the list – and check again when your usual shower gel is relaunched, as organic and conventional variants can differ.
