About Schaebens

Schaebens is a German cosmetics company whose family history goes back to the 19th century; the present firm, Haus Schaeben, was founded in 1933 by Wilhelm Schaeben together with Paul and Max Henze after the family had lost the Klosterfrau business. Its range today spans face masks, sheet masks, hair masks, eye pads and foot care. All 5 entries in our database are masks: an anti-wrinkle mask, a rice water sheet mask, an AHA peel sheet mask, a Dead Sea mud mask and a charcoal peel-off mask.

Five ways to make a mask

Only one of the 5 Schaebens products carries a category tag (face masks), but every name is a mask. PARFUM, PANTHENOL, XANTHAN GUM and SODIUM HYDROXIDE appear in 3 each, with GLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL and SODIUM HYALURONATE in 2 – a spread that reflects five quite different formats.

Fragrance is declared in 3 formulas (60%) and denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) in 2 (40%); none contains parabens or silicones.

Format decides the list

A peel-off mask dries into a film and often contains ALCOHOL DENAT. to speed drying, a sheet mask is soaked in a watery serum, and a mud mask is built on clays or minerals – so compare a mask with others of the same type. The single-use sachets carry the full INCI list on the back.
