Packaging and what the product is

The photo on the manufacturer’s page shows a 50 ml face and body cream from the brand’s classic birch line. It is a rich cream for dry and irritated skin rather than a light daily moisturiser.

Ingredient analysis

The list is short: water, soybean, jojoba and grape seed oils, beeswax (Cera Alba) and sodium stearate, which is a soap-type emulsifier. Betulin, a triterpene obtained from birch bark, is the ingredient the product is named after. Sodium levulinate and sodium anisate, together with citric acid, make up a gentle, low-number preservation and pH system. There is no added fragrance.

What to watch out for

The formula contains no fragrance allergens from the EU labelling list. Beeswax means it is not vegan. Plant oils such as soybean oil can feel heavy on oily or acne-prone skin. Sodium stearate gives the cream a slightly alkaline, soap-based structure, which some people with very reactive skin prefer to avoid.
