Our review

A simple, inexpensive hydrating serum with several forms of hyaluronic acid and panthenol; many find it hydrating, while stickiness and occasional pilling are the most common complaints.

Packaging and what the product is

A 30 ml water-based serum in the brand’s recognisable glass bottle with a dropper, as on the manufacturer’s image quoted here. The analysed list is the original formulation; The Ordinary has also released a version with ceramides, so check which one you have.

Ingredient analysis

Sodium hyaluronate is second on the list, followed by hydrolysed hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer – forms of different molecular size, though the label does not say how much of each is present. Panthenol (provitamin B5), glycerin, propanediol and pentylene glycol add humectancy; phospholipids and sphingolipids are minor lipid additions; Anthemis nobilis (Roman chamomile) extract is also present.

Preservation relies on phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin, caprylyl glycol and ethylhexylglycerin. (The source list contains typos such as “Propandiol” and “Panisic Acid”, i.e. propanediol and p-anisic acid.)

What to watch out for

No parfum is listed. Humectant serums work best on damp skin followed by a moisturiser; in very dry air some people feel more tightness. Chamomile extract may matter for people allergic to Asteraceae plants.

What users say

On MakeupAlley the serum has a repurchase rate of 68%, and the 20 reviews we read averaged about 3.6/5 (checked 30 October 2026). Users praise hydration for dehydrated skin and the low price. The most frequent complaint is a sticky or tacky feel, especially with heavier application; some report pilling under other products or breakouts, and a few saw no hydration benefit. ShopSavvy’s summary also mentions a messy, “stringy” dropper.

Who it may suit

People who want an affordable, fragrance-free hydrating step under a moisturiser. If you dislike tacky textures, use a small amount on damp skin or choose a lighter gel.
