Our review

A very short, aluminium-free natural deodorant spray: water, alcohol and a lemon-based fragrance. Long-time users love the fresh citrus scent; the alcohol can sting on freshly shaved skin and effectiveness varies from person to person.

Packaging and what the product is

The photo on weleda.fr shows a green 100 ml bottle with a white pump-spray head and a lime-yellow label reading “Weleda – Deodorant Spray”, “Note fraîche”, “100 % d’origine naturelle” and “Citrus”. It is a pump (non-aerosol) deodorant without aluminium salts – it does not stop sweating but aims to limit odour.

Ingredient analysis

The list has just nine entries. Water and alcohol form the base; the alcohol evaporates quickly and has a cleansing, odour-limiting effect. The rest is fragrance: parfum, lemon (Citrus medica limonum) peel oil and the declared fragrance components limonene, linalool, geraniol, citral and farnesol.

There are no aluminium salts, no added antimicrobials beyond the alcohol and essential oils, no propellant and no humectant – the formula is about as minimal as a deodorant can be.

What to watch out for

Five declared fragrance allergens and a high alcohol content make it a poor choice for people with fragrance contact allergy or very sensitive underarm skin. Applying straight after shaving can sting, as several users note. Citrus oils can be photosensitising on sun-exposed skin; underarms are rarely exposed, but it is worth avoiding spraying on skin that will be in strong sun.

What users say

On LOOKFANTASTIC the spray averages 4.41/5 from 73 reviews (checked 31 Oct 2026), many in German. Long-time users describe a fresh, unobtrusive lemony scent that does not clash with perfume, good effectiveness even after sport and no reactions for them; some have used it for years.

Criticism includes stinging after shaving (one American reviewer describes a strong burn), a slightly sticky feel after a while, one report that it suddenly stopped working, and disappointment that the clear bottle was replaced by a green one.

Who it may suit

People who want an aluminium-free, natural deodorant with a fresh citrus scent and do not react to alcohol or fragrance. Those with sensitive or freshly shaved underarms may prefer an alcohol-free formula.
