About Batiste

Batiste is a dry shampoo brand. In 2011 its previous owner, Vivalis Ltd, sold it to the UK subsidiary of Church & Dwight, the US consumer goods company based in New Jersey. Batiste products are mainly aerosol sprays that are applied to the hair without water and come in many scented and tinted variants.

An aerosol formula, decoded

Batiste's 12 products in INCIMondo are dry shampoos, and their ingredient ranking reads like a spray can: three propellants – BUTANE, PROPANE and ISOBUTANE – plus ORYZA SATIVA STARCH, rice starch that absorbs oil, and ALCOHOL DENAT.

Denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.) is present in all 12 formulas and fragrance ingredients in 11. None contains parabens or silicones.

Reading a dry shampoo can

Propellant gases are listed like any other ingredient, which is why BUTANE or PROPANE often sit at the top of an aerosol label. With so many scented variants, the named fragrance components after PARFUM are the part of the list to compare if you avoid any of them.
