An ester of gallic acid used as an antioxidant.
What it is
Propyl gallate is the propyl ester of gallic acid (propyl 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate). It is also used as a food additive (E 310). CosIng lists it as an antioxidant and perfuming ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in creams, lipsticks, makeup and products containing oils that need protection against oxidation.
