Our review

A gentle, fragrance-free, low-foaming cream cleanser with ceramides – one of the safest choices for dry, sensitive and atopic-prone skin. Not a make-up remover and not ideal for very oily skin.

Packaging and what the product is

This entry (EAN 3337875597333, listed in our data simply as 'Cleanser') is the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for normal to dry skin in the large 473 ml (16 fl oz) bottle – sold in Poland as 'Nawilżająca emulsja do mycia'. The contributor photo shows the white pump bottle with the blue CeraVe logo, green accents, the bilingual English/Spanish label 'Hydrating Cleanser / Limpiadora Hidratante' and the 'fragrance free' marking. The pump makes dosing easy and hygienic. A smaller 236 ml bottle and refill pouches are also sold.

Ingredient analysis

This is a cream cleanser rather than a foaming wash: after water and glycerin come cetearyl and stearyl alcohol (fatty, non-drying alcohols) and PEG-40 stearate as the main emulsifier and mild cleansing agent. Behentrimonium methosulfate and sodium lauroyl lactylate help with slip and cleansing without stripping.

The 'barrier' part of the formula is the trio of ceramides NP, AP and EOP with cholesterol and phytosphingosine, plus sodium hyaluronate. These are rinse-off, so their role is mainly to avoid leaving the skin depleted. The preservation is phenoxyethanol with ethylhexylglycerin; disodium EDTA is a chelating agent. There is no fragrance and no sulfate surfactant.

What to watch out for

The formula contains no listed fragrance allergens and no EU-restricted actives. PEG ingredients are permitted in the EU. The product is not designed to remove waterproof or heavy make-up, so a first cleanse with micellar water or oil is usually needed. Check the label of the bottle you buy: packaging versions for different markets can differ slightly.

What users say

On Wizaż.pl the cleanser averages 4.6/5 from about 780 reviews (checked 30.10.2026). Users most often praise its gentleness on sensitive and atopic skin, the soft, non-tight feeling after washing, the lack of scent, the practical pump and good yield of the large bottle; some use it on the body or for shaving. The most frequent complaint is that it barely lathers, which some people interpret as weaker cleansing. A few find the price high, and some reviewers with oily skin find it too rich.

Who it may suit

Dry, normal, sensitive and atopic-prone skin, people using drying treatments (for example retinoids or acne medicines prescribed by a doctor) who need a mild cleanser, and anyone who dislikes fragrance. Oily skin may prefer a foaming gel.
