Our review

A fragrance-free zinc oxide nappy cream in a water-in-oil base with avocado oil, beeswax and sunflower lipids. Parents on the brand’s French site rate it very highly; on Wizaż opinions are more mixed – some praise it, others find it slow to absorb or not effective enough on irritated skin.

Packaging and what the product is

The quoted photo from mustela.fr shows the 50 ml tube of “Crème change 1 2 3” in Mustela’s white-and-blue baby design. It is a white barrier cream applied in a thin layer to the nappy area at changes. The brand states it is fragrance-free and contains 98% ingredients of natural origin (ISO 16128).

Ingredient analysis

Zinc Oxide is the second ingredient – a mineral that forms a protective, white layer between skin and moisture. The base is a water-in-oil emulsion made with polyglyceryl-2 dipolyhydroxystearate and polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, with caprylic/capric triglyceride and coco-caprylate/caprate as emollients, glycerin as humectant, and beeswax and stearalkonium hectorite for a stable, water-resistant texture; magnesium sulfate stabilises the emulsion.

Avocado oil, ethyl linoleate, sunflower seed oil unsaponifiables and avocado fruit extract (the brand’s “Avocado Perseose”) provide skin-conditioning lipids. Preservation relies on levulinic acid, sodium levulinate, caprylyl glycol and capryloyl glycine – a so-called “preservative-free” system made from multifunctional ingredients.

What to watch out for

There is no fragrance and no known strong allergen in the list, although beeswax and avocado derivatives can, rarely, cause reactions. A barrier cream protects but does not replace frequent nappy changes; redness that persists, blisters, or a rash beyond the nappy area should be checked by a doctor or pharmacist.

What users say

mustela.fr shows 4.8/5 from 25 reviews, while Wizaż shows 3.5/5 from 13 ratings (both checked 30 Oct 2026). Positive Polish reviews describe a cream that spreads easily, is not greasy, protects well and helped with mild redness in a day or two; some like that it washes off easily and use it as a daily preventive layer.

Critical reviewers found it too expensive for what it does, weak on more serious irritation, slow to absorb in hot weather, or prefer a homemade balm or baby powder. Some describe the texture as rather thick. The number of opinions is limited.

Who it may suit

Parents looking for a fragrance-free, everyday zinc barrier cream for the nappy area from birth. If a cheaper basic zinc ointment already works for your baby, reviews do not suggest a strong reason to switch.
