Our review

A classic, creamy volumising mascara from 2012 built on a blend of waxes, a film-forming polymer and a wide hourglass brush. It is fragrance-free and the brand states it is ophthalmologically tested and suitable for contact-lens wearers. User reviews are mostly positive about volume and price, with clumping when too much product is applied as the usual complaint.

Packaging and what the product is

The pupa.it photo shows a slim, shiny silver tube with a vertical black “Vamp!” logo and a small red “PUPA” mark, next to the black wand with a thick, curved bristle brush. The brand describes the brush as hourglass-shaped (wider at the ends, narrower in the middle) to pick up plenty of product. The tube holds 9 ml; the shade on the page is 100 Extra Black, and the PAO is 6 months.

Ingredient analysis

This is a traditional wax-in-water mascara. Water is followed by paraffin, glyceryl stearate, synthetic beeswax and stearic acid; rice bran wax, ozokerite, carnauba wax, hydrogenated vegetable oil and stearyl stearate add body. Stearic and palmitic acids neutralised by aminomethyl propanol form the soap-type emulsion that makes the formula creamy and buildable.

Acacia senegal gum, VP/eicosene copolymer, polybutene and polyester-11 are film formers that help the coating hold curl and resist smudging; hydroxyethylcellulose thickens and talc adds slip. Phenoxyethanol with ethylhexylglycerin preserves, disodium EDTA chelates, and the phosphate salts buffer the pH. There is no fragrance and no listed fibres.

What to watch out for

The standard Vamp! is not a waterproof formula (there is a separate waterproof version), so it may smudge on very oily lids or in humid weather. Mascaras should be replaced about every six months and never shared, to reduce the risk of eye infections. Remove it gently with an oil-based or bi-phase remover. Stop using it if your eyes become red, itchy or watery, and see a doctor if irritation persists.

What users say

On QualeScegliere.it the mascara had an average of 4.2/5 from 28 user reviews (checked 1 Nov 2026), all marked as unverified. Many reviewers say they have rebought it for years and praise the intense black, strong volume and good value. The recurring criticism is clumping: several say the brush picks up too much product, so it must be used sparingly and combed through, and one found it messy to apply and less lengthening than promised.

Who it may suit

People who want dramatic volume from a drugstore-to-mid-price mascara and are happy to build layers carefully. Those who want a lightweight, natural or waterproof finish, or who struggle with clumps, may prefer a slimmer brush or a different formula.
