A day-and-night cream for 50+ skin with resveratrol, a plant extract marketed as a “plant retinol” and tightening polysaccharides – note that it does not contain retinol itself.

Packaging and what the product is

The manufacturer’s photo shows a pink carton labelled “Re.VISAGE – wygładzenie i napięcie, krem liftingujący”, with the claims “resveratrol + retinol roślinny, alga karmazynowa” and “na dzień i na noc 50+”. The cream itself comes in a jar inside the box.

The phrase “plant retinol” on the box is a marketing term: the INCI list contains no Retinol. The ingredient behind it is most likely Bidens Pilosa Extract, a plant extract promoted as a gentler alternative to retinoids; its effects are not equivalent to retinol.

Ingredient analysis

The emollient base combines ethylhexyl stearate, coco-caprylate/caprate, grape seed, palm, cotton seed and linseed oils, with glycerin and propanediol as humectants. Tightening and smoothing are supported by hydrolysed and plain Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) gum, pullulan and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose – film formers that give a temporary feeling of firmness.

Actives include resveratrol (an antioxidant) and Porphyridium cruentum extract (a red microalga, the “crimson alga” on the box).

What to watch out for

The cream contains parfum (no individual allergens are listed, which means they are below labelling thresholds) and the red colorant CI 16255. It is preserved with phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate and caprylyl glycol. Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol is a UV absorber that protects the formula; the cream is not a sunscreen and has no SPF, so daytime sun protection is still needed.
