Our review

A light face cream for flaking, reddened, oily areas (such as the sides of the nose, eyebrows and hairline), built around piroctone olamine and zinc PCA. Opinions are few but mostly positive; it does not replace treatment of a diagnosed skin condition.

Packaging and what the product is

The manufacturer's photo shows a white 40 ml tube with the brand's blue square logo and the text 'Kerium DS Crème – soin visage apaisant pro-désquamant' ('soothing pro-desquamating face care'). The tube is practical for applying small amounts to specific areas. Note that this EAN (3337872411793) is an older version: it is listed as discontinued in some shops, and the brand now sells a 'Toleriane Kerium DS' cream, which may have a different formula.

Ingredient analysis

The base is water, isononyl isononanoate (a light emollient), glycerin and dimethicone, with an acrylic thickener, myristyl myristate and stearic acid – a fairly light, non-greasy cream. The key ingredients for flaking, oily skin are zinc PCA (often used for sebum-prone skin), capryloyl glycine and piroctone olamine, which is used both as a preservative and as an anti-dandruff agent.

Vitreoscilla ferment is the brand's signature bacterial ferment ingredient. Potassium cetyl phosphate and glyceryl stearate SE are emulsifiers; sodium benzoate and phenoxyethanol complete the preservation. The cream contains fragrance.

What to watch out for

Piroctone olamine is listed in Annex V of the EU Cosmetics Regulation with concentration limits that depend on the product type; the label does not show the amount. Fragrance may be a drawback for very reactive skin. Flaking and redness around the nose and eyebrows can have different causes (for example seborrhoeic dermatitis, rosacea or eczema), so a diagnosis from a dermatologist is worthwhile; one reviewer reported that the cream worsened eyelid eczema.

What users say

Published opinions are few. At Shop Apotheke the cream averages 4.5/5 from 18 reviews (checked 30.10.2026): several people say it reduced redness and scaling around the nose, eyelids and hairline, some use it day and night, and two mention a dermatologist's recommendation. The main negative is one report of worsened eczema. A Beaut.ie tester's partner with red, flaking facial skin found it effective and good value.

Who it may suit

Adults with oily, flaking, reddened patches on the face who want a light daily cream, ideally after a dermatologist has confirmed the cause. Not a first choice for very dry, eczematous skin or fragrance allergy.
